Picture this...

It was the year 1921 in Texas when fast food restaurant ‘The Pig Stand’ opened its first drive-through.

Customers entered the parking lot where carhops served them burgers and fries on trays clipped to the car’s window.

Restaurant owners watched their profits soar, as they dropped their prices and operated with less staff.

These days, one employee operates a drive-through.

Customers have access to quick and easy food, which keeps the revenue pouring in and profits high.

Not only did drive-throughs create a fast and efficient way of serving customers...

They also changed the variety of food offered to patrons.

As a result of more drive-throughs, the automotive industry changed as well.

In the early days, vehicles with cupholders were rare.

But by the late 1980s, many vehicles had more cupholders than passengers.

Nowadays, drive-throughs and cupholders are commonplace.

But it took a creative mind and a special way of thinking to make them happen.

And believe it or not, 2020 and 2021, have had some of the biggest breakthroughs since those first years of the drive-through. 

Today,  physical menus are obsolete, delivery has risen by 27%, and everything we thought we knew about consumer behavior has been thrown out the window.

However, what we saw over the course of the past year is an entirely new shift in restaurant creativity.

There are now new ways to provide exceptional restaurant experiences outside of the traditional four walls.

Whether that be through reaching new customers via digital marketing strategies, contactless menu and payment solutions, or additional restaurant spaces that don't require a new lease - the industry looks nothing as it did prior. 

While these changes may not seem as big as the invention of the drive-through, in both 1921 and 2020 the industry evolved with the consumer. 

With pandemic restrictions easing, there has never been a better time to get in front of new customers.

My only question is, how are you planning on doing it? 

The restaurant industry is back in full force and customers have their pick of the crop, so, how are you going to entice them to come into your restaurant over the other restaurant down the block?

I hope you're not going to say "the same thing I was doing before."
